Safe winter driving
Winter brings a number of factors that affect driving in South Canterbury such as black ice, rain, fog and snow. On fine days sun strike can also be a problem impacting drivers' visibility of the road and surroundings. All of these weather factors influence the roads and also the way in which we drive on them. In wet and frosty conditions, traction on the road can be reduced. Driving slower and increasing your following distance to 4 seconds are some practical steps you can take to drive safer in winter.
